I love BOOBIES!

Each year, in honor of breast cancer awareness month, various organizations create clothing and accessories that support the cause. Over the years, the slogans have changed with the times to become more modern and catchy. Instead of just being pink with the symbolic ribbon, many of these tees dawn slogans such as "Saving Second Base" and "Treasured Chest", bracelets read phrases like "I love boobies".

The question is, do you feel these are appropriate for middle school and elementary aged children to wear? Would you let your young child wear these to show support and would they understand the purpose? Do you agree with schools banning these items?

  1. Na! Way inappropriate attire, even for the cause and awareness. It still promotes sexism, sexual lust, and places women as objects. Focusing on a females parts negates her as a whole and focusing on Breast cancer negates cancer on a whole. Cancer spreads and while certain forms or types need to be addressed upon individual diagnosis, these shirts demean and distract from women as a whole and cancer as a whole; compared to other means of raising awareness. I understand this type of campaign but I do not agree. Suppose men's balls were put on shirts saying, "Protect The Family Jewels" for testicular cancer awareness. Or hand prints on pants crotches by mens's balls! Inappropriate for any gender or age.
